had our first break-in yesterday. kicked in the basement door, ran upstairs and stole my powerbook. left my wife's tibook, which was another floor up.
my laptop was in the living room. they must have seen it through the window.
as far as i can tell, nothing else was taken. left the tv, stereo, dvds, and all the other stuff easily liquidated.
nothing in my studio was taken, which is a huge relief.
didn't lose much on the laptop. 98% of my music stuff was backed up. the thief walked right by my external harddrive and left it...
which brings me to a question:
i use cubase. cubase does not have a universal binary yet and probably won't for the next 6 months or more (based on my last look at cubase.net . my laptop was from work, so it'll get replaced with a macbook pro. will my existing copy of cubase sx 3 be even remotely usable on the macbook???

Aw man, sorry to hear about the theft and the out-of-pocket, mini.
Let us know how you're getting on with the new macbook. As for "liking" this blog, I just meant that you had my vote of support, for what it's worth.
