About me
In 1994, an early online program called Pravda23 began writing the code for an offline character called John Bartmann. Thanks to sophisticated organigraphic software, "John Bartmann" has been masquerading alongside other programmed personalities in everyday life, manifesting curious experimental music in order to remind them of their origins as other online beings.

Pravda23 is the creator behind the manifestation of John Bartmann.

My Gear
Reason 3.0, a 64-key Evolution controller keyboard, a standard Intel Integrated audio card, a pithy Dell Latitude 1.8 with 256mb RAM, Cubase SX, a Stagg (Ovation copy) acoustic guitar, a Cort Stellar electric guitar, an old-skool Korg 05RW synth, a Hopf violin which needs some resin, Ableton Live 6.0, my voice, my overactive brain, noisy housemates and lots of midnight coffees.
Electronic Music other: deaf in one ear
Store Written June 04 2009 , Tags: deaf
got an infection in my left ear recently - massive wax buildup and swelling of the canal. in other words, temporarily deaf to outside noises in one ear.

i've given production a good few weeks' break, but the weirdest thing is hearing my own voice super-loud on the left all the time, but practically nothing else. was playing some guit and singing yesterday, and it was like having the signals panned hard left and right.

replies in caps please. i can't hear you so well.

get one of those old ear funnel cone things they used to give old people and shout EH! at people until this whole ordeal is over.
HAVE YOU BEEN TO A DOCTOR ABOUT THIS? Ear health is no laughing matter.
pour some hydrogen peroxide in there and go nuts with a q-tip
replace "go nuts" with "gingerly swab" and that advice isn't too horrible...
this happened to me! get a plastic syringe from a convenience store, fill it with warm water and a little salt, and really flush it out. hydrogen peroxide works too! you need to get that crap out of there. it feels really cool, too.
ooog, yes, doctor please
something similar happened to me from getting sinus infection and then flying 12 hours. took a good 2-3 months to get better. go see a doc.
many good pieces of advice. went to doc and he flushed it out with a hot syringe, so WE HAVE A WINNER!!! Congratulations madeofoak, you provided the correct advice. You win a year's supply of ear wax.
us humans r lucky we can hear
