Electronic Music other: Experimental folk

Hi all!

I released the album Alltihop earlier this year; mostly laid-back electronica with some elements of classical music. After that release I've mostly worked on a way to perform electronic music live without being just a dull-guy-with-a-lap-top. Ableton live, a MIDI synthesizer and a friend on harmonica helped me there.

Anywayz, I've also been brainstorming on how the overall sound should be on the new album. As most people I don't like repeating myself. Until yesterday I haven't had much to be happy about, but sunday's composing led to a sound more in the field of what I think is called folktronica. I sing in a sort of Bonnie Prince Billy style and play acoustic guitar, but have loads of nice electronic sounds bubbling underneath.

Any good recommendations in this area? That is, experimental folk?

Michael Gira's "Angels of Light" project is pretty fantastic, especially "Everything is good here"
Thanks. It has some songs that help me in my quest in trying to find what sound I'm actually after. It's there in my head somewhere, but very unclear. Like when you are trying to find out the name of a concept (like: "You know, that theory which Hegel formed and Marx and Engels got inspired by.") - and then when someone finally says the word ("dialectics") you shout: "Yes, that's it! That's the word I was looking for."
Mapmap liked this blog, but I think he's too shy to tell you to check out his band unrecognizable now.

But I'm not.

well i consider some of the stuff on Audiobulb in the realm of what you're describing, at least in the way i personally would want my folk influenced electronic music (or vice versa). another sheffield label worth checking out in this area is Singing Knives, moreso on the experimental folk-art-noise side than necessarily blended with electronica.

also check out: sunken foal (planet mu), brassica (taratuga records)
Thanks. I'll try to check these out.
