Electronic Music other: Korg DS-10 Plus
Store Written June 26 2009
Well this was an unexpected surprise.

Korg have announced a new version of their DS-10 software for the Nintendo DS, "DS-10+" !

New additions incude recording of track mutes and realtime tweaking while in song mode. Also, if you have a Nintendo DSi you will be able to use double the voices of the DS-10, so 4 synths and 8 drums as opposed to the 2 synths and 4 drums. This seems strange to me as I thought the DS and DSi were running on the same-speed CPU? Don't let me find out they're short-changing DS/DSLite users!

Anyway, cretainly looks like a promising upgrade to DS-10. I didnt really use the original because I felt it was a little lacking (esp. in song mode - being unable to tweak while a song was playing was a deal-breaker for me). I just hope that they have upped the number of available patterns or at least allowed the patterns to be longer than 1 bar in length. This annoyed me in the original program too, I saw no reason for having so few patterns available to the user.

Anyway, I look forward to checking this out on release and its very encouraging to see Korg supporting the DS/DSi. I hope they come up with a few companion products in the near future.

an 'unexpected surprise' eh? haha, need more caffeine.
DSi has 16mb ram instead of 4 on DS/DS Lite and more than double the processing power (i think the ARM9 on the DSi is 166Mhz instead of 66Mhz on the DS).

the most amazing thing about DS-10 is the sound. i didn't expect getting the Korg signature sound out of a DS but i was pleasantly surprised when i tried it. it can get close to the real thing.

however, i don't really use DS-10. the sequencing is way too linear and "80s". it would be great if they added support for MIDI using the DSMI library instead of the cheesy DS-10 "multiplayer" mode.
Thats a bit gay,

guess I'm gunna have to upgrade to DSi. .. This being about the only reason to unless you want a camera.
love the fake crowds in that video haha
Dammit, I just bought the original recently. Probably won't upgrade anytime soon, alas. Sigh.
that thing is awesome, i saw they sell those things at walmart
