but this time she tookith away....
The goddess of techno is an incredibly buxom, but vindictive lady. Her modern ways are both seductive and unsettleing. She asks things of you; sometimes easy (couldn't you just shave?) and sometimes hard. (sever all ties with your family) If you leave her, it has to be fast, and during the night. I did that about a year ago when I started my band. I ran into her sister (diy synth hardware) the other week, and I thought we could meet for coffee and catch up on things....
and she just about took my left index finger.
I was working on the casing for an "atari punk console" and my boxcutter sliped and cut an inch long (and almost a half inch deep) gaping gash into the joint of my left hand index finger. I wish I had taken pics when it was all bloody and gross, but alerting teh webbernets of my misfortune was the least of my concerns.
It's healed enough for me to realize that I will never play the bass like I used to. the joint is swelled up (still), and my finger span has lost about 2 inches.
I'm gonna revert to a standard tuning and try to relearn the old songs...I thought the 5ths tuning would make things easier, but it seems that alot of the songs are easier to play in standard.
the APC I was working on is finished, and it's name and paint job were inspired by the incident.
this one is dubbed "The Amputator", and i'd like to sell it if I could. I also could build some for you guys for not too many cash dollas.
I just thought I'd put that out there because the ER isn't cheap. (urgent care was closed.)

box cutters are evil. I did the same thing, not as deep though, to one of my fingers once. Stuck the finger in my mouth and got a good solid mouthful. Spilled it over my chin in horror.
heal well, man. i'm watching "the hand" now.
sorry to hear man, that's rough. don't let it get you too down though. would playing upright make it any easier?

i too did the same finger with a box cutter... not so bad though, it went in horizontally.. hit bone and bled everywhere, but fully healed.
by working on an APC, do you mean you made one, or you painted one?.. (and do you mean APC40?) ^ APC = atari punk console

I have a scar across my left thumb knuckle because of a box cutter. That was the first time I saw an actual stream of blood squirting.
I will enjoy this blog more with pics ;) I did this too... on ly left index finger. blood pulsing.. made me throw up.

I got this awesome vintage luggage I'm gonna put it in, but right now I'm just waiting for the mail. Use power tools for the modular. (it will make for a better story when you lose your leg)
i nearly cut off the tip of my finger with a mandolin ( link ). it had a julienne insert in so the finger was kinda mushed up. very minor in comparison. here's my tip for y'all: if you are using a mandolin and don't have an oyster glove or the like, make sure you have zero alcohol/drugs in your system!
