Yeah I got this yesterday, really good stuff thank.
As someone who finds mid nineties drum and bass enormously seductive, this record is pure pleasure to listen to. The drum riffs, the effects, and especially the chord progressions, are all a delight. To be fair, it sounds too much like its influences. But at some point I just have to say “fuck objectivity.” I really like this record.
“Line Break” is nine and half minutes of bliss. It actually sounds like the lost, and best, track from the Japanese shoot em’ up game Border Down. I’ve always loved its soundtrack even if it might also face the criticism of being confined to a genre and sound of yester year. I don’t suppose you’ve played it, as it’s not common. Please post a notice when the CD copy is available! I did go back and listen to a bit of mid nineties material that seems to have been an influence for this record. And this new SpeaK album definitely sounds more sophisticated compositionally. It should, and it does. Bravo!
