your pussy is huge!
how do you keep him from shedding all over your vinyl? hehe,
my cat is to fat to get around my gear. he just lies next to the food complaining I used to mix, but moved more towards livePA because my sex-drive is basically non-existant and I like playing with geeky toys more than boobies..
Advice: Mix , mix, mix, mix.. I mixed for like 4+ hours everyday for I guess 18months before I did my first flawless recording of a mix .. I'm of the opinion 'dont release anything until youre fucking awesome' .. but its probably stupid of me, since most DJs that get gigs suck.. I hear you have to be a freemason or something hah.. Of course this is irrelevant if you mix on a computer.. When you have a mix you want to give out, write your email/phone number on it, come up with a cool name for the mix rather than just 'my promo 09'.. then give it to everyone - on a real CD.. labelling/casing is not so necessary I dont think, unless your going for a 'fashion' club group rather than a 'we love music' group. Particularly important IMO are the regular partygoers - If they like it, they'll spread it to their friends, start commenting about it online, etc... One thing though... If you do a mix that everyone loves, then get a bit obscure with your next mix.. it's a bit of a risk.. I failed epically when my 2nd and 3rd promos were all of far better more 'serious' music, way better mixing.. but nobody could sing along to the tunes... People still remember me by my first mix.. which while its nice to be remembered, kind of sucks. I got my first 'real' gig from a bunch of kids (who I had never met and have no idea how they got the mix) telling a promoter that I should play at his party (I did know the guy a bit which probably helped, but he wouldnt have given me a slot at this party without the recommendation) I ended up playing in a club 3 or 4 times I think, the biggest being 11pm on saturday night in the (other) room at a monthly rave type thing. Then I became terribly jaded and went and became a shut-in in front of my computer for a few years... The End. I agree with all that. Give CDs out to everyone you meet.
Probably worth setting a myspace up too, and adding shitloads of people... cartesia: That was a cool story.
cartesia, thanks for your excellent input! yeah references is my biggest problem regarding getting a dj job. I`ve gotten to know a few bookers at a few venues, but I feel like shit for asking for favors just after a few months of acquaintance. I`ve decided to do a sufficient mix that might correspond with the profile of the clubs I`m targeting. I`ll try to meet up with the club owners giving them the cd personally and hopefully give a good impression at face value.
Btw, how do you guys find the mix? you don't really have to ask for a favor persay.
i'd jsut say to one of the guys...hey here's a cd i mixed up live if you have an open spot or someone cancells and you're in a jam give me a call. that way he feels like you're doing HIM a favor. Signup to comment
