Arcade Fire is an example that taste isn't everything ... you need to write a good song. Or at least some good chords. They do everything "right" but they totally suck. wtf?
btw - Fleet Foxes are the Collective Soul of this generation. Isn't it funny that Pitchfork changed from overly passionate nerds to being your cool little sister?

Just don't read Pitchfork. Seriously, your life will be better. You will feel better about the world. I don't usually, unless a friend is in it or something. This was shown to me. The 90's one is even worse. (BoC over aphex?) These guys are the perfect example of 90's fanboys that never got accepted with open arms and are bitter and wanna fight back at the "cool" kids.
they even suck at being loners. give me a break... who the hell cares about some top 100 lists?! I have to echo sohcahtoa's sentiments.

really though. .. Lichen by aphex? BoC has never come close to that(or Brian Eno for that matter). link I like BoC a lot actually. when they don't have trip hop beats and waste my time. It's like saying Ride is better than My Bloody Valentine this list is silly. Outkast is good but #1 for the 00's i think not. the statement, "In "B.O.B"'s booty-bass blitzkrieg, we hear an obliteration of the boundaries separating hip-hop, metal, and electro, setting the stage for a decade of dance/rock crossovers," is a complete fabrication. the song has a guitar solo, so i guess that makes it metal?? (cuz rock bands never use distortion...) and i guess if you play up-tempo hip-hop you're referencing electro, even if your song lacks anything electro aside from the funk that electro got from hip hop in the first place?
i mean, beyonce is in the top 10. what else is there to say?

Not even buried down in the 300s somewhere. Not anywhere.  Haven't they heard my generatively sequenced sampled acoustic guitar ambient tracks!?!? Pitchfork blows. I love how they cite their previous years top lists as evidence of a song's greatness. That's like saying ham sandwiches are the best sandwiches because I eat them all the time.
