--> A while ago my band was invited to do a bjork tribute show, and the date is coming up very quick :S

September 30th @ the Powerhouse in brisbane were going to be doing a show of 4 Bjork songs + 4 of our own songs.

After much discussion ( and fighting ;) ) we chose Hidden Place, Joga ( does anyone know how to actually pronouce it???) , Hyperballad and Violently Happy.

So far Hidden place is not so removed from the original, Joga is a mess of industrial noise ( i sampled my washing machine ) , hyperballad features samples of thunderstorms and children playing ( but isnt so removed from the original ) and violently happy is a fucked up mix of ebm/idm/hardcore

We have a friend doing visuals ( richard De Souza ) .. he's done visuals before for us and they were great, he has these little mini cameras he live feeds to his vj stuff and were planning on tempo synching it via midi.

its getting to be quite a big event .. im getting a little nervous.. :S

This is the last in the series of tributes to electronica ... previous were Gary Numan, Depech Mode and New Order.

pics and mp3's will hopefully be available after the event..

dudes,

so far we are only 4 people for the tribute compilation...
we need some more!

oh c'mon!

yeah come on people.

um, might i suggest the joga tribue EP

hahaha

i think the music behind her vocals is good, but in my humble and honest opinion, her voice is rediculouse. she is overal redicolouse as a person. shes like one of those head strong people, who even though they are determined that they were made for the arts, 'express' themselves..to my horror, the things this type of person considers good. in those head strong explorations into the art of music, trying to convince everyone that mixing gospel music with rap is a good idea. its like her excessive whaleing over these beats just ruins them. she thinks shes pushing the envalope. its cool to push the envalope but you can push so hard that you tear it to pieces and thats where you get bjork. for this reason, i couldnt see myself doing any work on any of her tracks, besides removeing her from the process of it all.

You CAN remove all elements of her voice!
The whole idea is that we're doing cover songs
Why not try? Especially if you think you could do the songs justice without her voice. [That's not a provocative statement by the way].

I'd be up for a cover of Jòga.

yeah, but i feel that doing a cover of a song requires that it is done first by a true artist in the sense of someone i repsect, so i wouldnt be forced to completely re-sing the entire thing so it doesnt sound like drabble over awsome beats. does she actualy make the beats herself? if so i respect her for that anyway. im sorry, she just acts like such a 'dumbass' for lack of a better word.

mcmoon you are just trolling
as many times i have stated on this site that i dont care for teh aphex twin, or even think he is overrated, and acts like a total jerk, i have never tried to imply he is not a "true artist".

even at the worst of the worst with terry turbo vaga gina bond, which caused terry to run into the woods and punch a tree, i still didn't throw that low of a blow.

im with zander, you should show us what a true artist can do with her song then.

alright dudes,

it looks like noone else wants to join the compilation.

i will send a mail to all of you who responded to my call. we will have to talk about the concept and stuff.

if anyone else wants to be part of a bjork tribute compilation... tell me NOW!
