When cows out grazing in a beautiful pasture.But sometimes these pastures where cows live,can have old pieces of wire fences, nails, bits of discarded cans, etc.While grazing,a cow might accidently ingest a piece of metal.This drops to the bottom front of her stomach.Through all the powerful churning of her digestive system as the grass is digested, these pieces of metal can work themselves through the wall of the stomach or heart. Leaking digestive juices can cause infections that can be fatal to the cow.This known as Hardware Disease.
Cow magnets are popular with dairy farmers and veterinarians to help prevent Hardware Disease in their cattle.When a cow swallows a large smooth magnet, It lands in the first compartment of the stomach, and attracts the stray metal on its way by, holding it in a safe place. So that they do not penetrate the stomach wall. Therefore, it make sure to gain cows' appetite and increases milk output.

ha. i used to play with cow magnets as a kid on the farm. this blog just brought back a super early childhood memory i'd completely forgotten.

Doesnt this make the metal lump bigger and heavier and so more awkward to pass, and also add an extra risk that the metal and magnet will attract, but pinch some tissue in between, thus locking the sharp metal and magnet in place? Or is this just some absurd joke that i dont get? this does a better job explaining it than i can
