Whoa $199 is pretty cheap.
Yeah, I saw that. I just bought an APC40 recently, but I like the tiny size of this guy...and 8x8 instead of 8x5!
If anyone wants to sell their APC40 to fund the purchase of one these, give me a shout!
i like that you can chain these things. wonder if you could set up a nice 16 (or even 32) button step sequencer?

I wouldn't be upset after buying a Monome kit -- it's sure to be built better than these things. Plasticky.
Fuck me that video is loud.
There's some seriously flaky timing happening with the snares sometimes. Bizarre that either company would be happy with this as a promo video imo. Makes me wonder about the robustness of the communication between machines.
i feel like i just watched robot porn. eew.
@cbit? when? i only noticed bad timing on drums fingering, but it's adjusted by quantization right away it seems to me
i bet they will sell a lot of them... it's blinky, it's cheap, and the video makes one think that it's actually easy to play in that manner... there's also live included! it's a good marketing video imho. I think they came up with a good product, given that up to now that kind of thing was only for a "restricted" circle of people. I'm not saying i'd like to have it tho yeah, i still think the apc40 is for me - encoders are key. i just wish someone would put out a damn 16 button horizontal setup (for easy classic step-sequencing). i am thinking if akai is happy with apc40 sales, they'll put out a larger grid version soon.

I don't use Ableton.
