Electronic Music promo: Video: Mormo at ADA, with joystick. (+ Reel to reel joy!)

I posted a recording of a presentation I gave about electronic music with a joystick.
You can see the vids at: link

Apologies if you saw this already. I did add the vids to the new vids section too, but i'm not sure if folk might be overlooking that part of the new site so i'm bumping it here too.

To add some VALUE to this blog post, a note about the TEAC open reel recorder i got recently (neighbours were throwing it out link It works pretty brilliantly in Live, as an external effect. Because it has three heads, you can playback off the tape at the same time as recording. This means you can process audio from the computer, through the tape, and back into the DAW in a single pass. Very simple to set up, the trickiest part was tuning the latency for the distance between the record and play head (it takes about 73ms), but that was straightforward too using the 'external effect' device in Live (it has a latency parameter).

I particularly like how the tape changes hi frequency stuff. I'll make some A-B smapples to post next time.

Great to hear that you got it working the way you wanted. Always thaught that two-head tape recorders weren't able to pull that trick off, but it seems they do... Got so many great memories of reel recorders, used to play with two all the time when I was a kid
interesting stuff with the tape,

i wonder what else you could do besides tape warmth, like, delay or pitch fx maybe?
true tape flange!
suprised you didn't comment on how obscenely heavy the teac is.
Oh yeah: it is OBSCENELY heavy. I keep forgetting quite how heavy it is, always understimate it before i pick it up.

hi bodo, this one's three-headed. I don't think 2 heads can do it either.
i loved running it as a tape delay, left in, left out to right in, right out to mixer and maybe a bit of feedback, although ive never tried the feedback
Good idea. P also suggested exploring its possibilities as a fixed time feedback delay. Something i still have to dig into.
