Nice work, really interesting. You should post this around other (more developer centric) forums as well.

I recommend using ConTeXt for your documentation. Standardize its use for Neil documentation. It's got some great features for structured documentation. It'll compile PDFs (and HTML, I believe, but haven't done that personally). Also, it's TeX, so it'll be the best looking and easiest reading documentation available for open source.

i've been dicking around with sun's virtualbox for some time, so if you're windows enabled, just download the virtualbox and install a ubunut on it. It's pretty good.
