Downloading it now; I'm really excited to try out the interfacing with the APC40.
Also, modulating warp markers!

$300 all said to buy. What's missing? Why so cheap? Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
just downloaded it. looks like a lot of work again to learn it.
upgrade from 7 to 8 ($?) + $300. hmmm.
i'm not sure you can modulate warp markers…
how would that go, as warp markers are not indexed by the API.
it's also much cheaper to buy it for students now. only $250. and then $99 or 79€ for max for live. i might go this route because it also enables you to do standalone max.
wow the student price is sick.. but i really dont use live enough to justify upgrading from 7 i think.. maybe i should sell all my hardware again after going soft->hard-soft->hard already.. gotta keep up my consistency :P
i'd definitely pay $100 to be able to use the max4live library. but i don't think i'm the type to get into the nitty gritty of max programming.

I must have misinterpreted an early promo vid I saw, then. Hm.
oh I remember now. It was speculation on one of the articles at Createdigitalmusic.
Sorry to derail the convo, but .... TWIN CITIES REPRESENT!

... carry on.
what.... live 'intro'? looking at the specs it's a lot of stuff for $99. i have suite 7 and i think most of my projects could've been done in live intro because i don't use a lot of send/returns and only record stereo in/out. i'd get that in a heartbeat over fruity loops if i didn't already bite the bullet.
I don't understand. I could buy Max/MSP 5 for $495 then pay $99 for Max for Live...

Or I can just buy Max for Live for $299 and still make standalone max patches?

that can not be right? can it?
Key features

Build your own audio effects, MIDI effects and instruments
Use the API to control Live Sets, tracks, clips, devices, notes, loops, parameters etc.
Extend your hardware's feature set: provides objects to access any hardware controllers that are connected to Live
*****Includes a specialized version of Max for creating and editing Max devices (Please note: does not run independently of Max for Live)*****
Comes with a selection of MAX devices that are ready to use out of the box for audio and MIDI processing, algorithmic composition, real-time performance and hardware control
Devices keep playing in Live while they are being edited in Max
Flexible user interface design: the UI can look like Live or completely different
Includes hundreds of built-in Max objects for logic, MIDI, scripting, audio and video processing
Supports video synthesis and animation via "Jitter" objects
Includes step-by-step tutorials for learning to program with Max for Live
im playing with the beta.. i like the stuff from pluggo, really different approaches.

i want to use the stuff people make with this, but i dont really want to pay 300... i wish they would make a runtime, id even pay 100 for a runtime.
Ok, so its not standalone. Does anyone know if it has all of the max and msp objects though?
buffer~, groove~, multisliders, etc.
