the tape recording feature is new. how much shit can they cram into this thing? how does it keep getting better and better?
needs proper sequencer..but yes, yum yum. and definitely around the $999 mark when it comes out..
in writing, it seems pretty awesome...
i dunno about the implementation though.. are people reallly gonna take it around with them like an ipod? not exactly pocket-sized... or are people really gonna integrate it in their studio? it seems to occupy a seat somewhere between the iphone, a nanokey/kontrol/pad, and the microkorg.. yet the pricetag throws it into a very different category, and the features list is a kitchen-sink situation. I'd have gone for a fullsized desktop/groovebox format module, or something actually portable.. and if it was portable, I'd have used low-profile knobs to avoid them snapping off.. I'd throw out the internal speaker... who is going to use that? I really want to have a go on one, but in theory it's awesome.
the videos i saw were promising... but i second filarion's comment. what about the sequencer ?
its one of those things that i see and think, yeah that looks really nice and very well designed and crafted but actually how the hell can i afford that?
when korg and the mass producers throw out really usable synths for a third the price and 999 would get me a second hand virus or Andromeda or something how would i justify this? the answer is i wouldn't, but some marketing exec that wants another toy to mess about in his home studio would go out and buy it without blinking his eyes. ooh i sound bitter there don't i? but it sounds weak - doesn't it?
the screen looks neat, it is unique, but there are a lot of other things I would spend my $1000 on first.
4 track tape HELL YEA
Dunno about the sound, engineers rarely get good sounds out of these things and people were saying "sounds thin" about the Machinedrum for ages.. this is more like a Tenori-On than anything else I guess.
you do sound bitter quip ;E -- I just dream of a world were I can afford sturdy gear that survives the punishment I subject it to. I honestly would spring serious cash for an aluminium casing midi controller that fits my live set up. I just reviewed the Vestax TR-1 dj controller and that's exactly the sturdieness I want..but in a regular MIDI controller prettyplease. and btw, 999 was a wild guess, could be a lot less I suppose, but I somehow doubt it.
why no MIDI port? c'mon
i read somewhere, that it is in the 700 dollar region
I also just read that it does have sequencers apparently.. but yeah, what's up with the lack of MIDI..
I hope it has some sort of special USB to MIDI cable ... kinda like a gameboy.
If not. It's worthless... Page 1 | 2
