i'm not a racist or a homophobe. i'm not greedy or selfish. i'm not brain-washed or unwilling to consider views. and it just hurts to see people willing to accuse entire segments of the population (that include me and their friends and family) of those things just for a political talking point. i don't think people realize that what they say matters beyond winning an argument. i don't think they consider that politics will ebb and flow, but how they treated their supposed friends in the heat of battle will be remembered.

thats happening everywhere. dont think people are anymore open minded or tolerant here in the north. i live in philadelphia pennsylvania and i hear "nigger" and "spic" thrown around everywhere. people are prejudiced just about everywhere. although philly's pretty good for homosexuals, they've taken over the best part of the city. its called the gayborhood. that being said, politics are really polarizing everyone in this country. things have become youre either for us or against us. its getting dangerous. i think that after vietnam our country lost its mind, then after 9/11 we lost our soul.

er.. so, what happened? were you watching the news or reading something on line or is this something local that happened?
i mean... every part of the population gets picked on all the time but it doesn't matter really.. we're all getting screwed. anyway there are stereotypes in every part of the country (world) and then there are 'not' stereotypes everywhere as well. my postman pointed at the address on a letter and asked me which flat "these fucking foreigners" lived in today...i was lost for words. i hope he falls down some steps while delivering letters.
I've been a foreigner everywhere I've lived since I was 4 years old. My advice: blend in. Especially learn how to speak like a native.
You can compain all you want, but unless you're willing to accept the reality that you will be discriminated against based on the way you talk, act, and your upbringing, you're doing nothing to improve your own standard of living. Most people just aren't intelligent enough to approach situations with an open mind. They need a set of rules on how to speak to people that look, speak or act a certain way. Thinking in the moment just isn't an option for most. A little compassion for the narrow and simple minded is necessary at times. ....... it's cos of those goddamn skunkwad financial types.

People that messed it up were the 'greedy'', which there are endless amounts of. I'm not sure what this thread is even about.
All I could gather was some kind of "I'm intolerant of intolerance." kind of messages that seem to be the pervasive attitude on sites like reddit and digg. I can only assume that it's related to a) being in the south and / or b) being in favor/ against HCR or c) they don't make underoos or reasonably priced footy-pajamas in your size anymore Signup to comment
