Electronic Music discussion: looking for simple stompbox to play samples
Store Written April 24 2010
while playing guitar, i need a supersimple stompbox to fire off a few samples. it does not need to be in sync with anything, no midi, i do not want to go the 'trig ableton live' or a sampler route, just one simple stompbox, press with foot, it plays the recorded (stored) sample.

i know digitech makes the jam man thingy, but there might be something even simpler out there?

sp303 or 404 and a foot midi foot controller

its two pieces of kit but it'd be dead simple to set up.

i'm sure there's a more elegant way to go however
I think the problem you will have is.. why would anyone build such a box? Mainly because digital sampling is so simple that they would almost certainly make something more complicated (like the SP 202/303/404/etc)
Mod a Yak Bak WarpR? Could be interesting, would give you pitch control, but only one sample of up to 6 seconds for each one.
the rc-20xl can be configured to play a sample in loop or one shot mode.
you'd need a separate 2 button footswitch to select the samples with your feet though.
Original Dr Sample?

carefully pressing the big buttons (approx 1 inch square) with a big toe might work...
RC2 would work - but you'd have to turn a dial to get between samples
