Electronic Music discussion: synergy
Store Written May 20 2010
So i've discovered this great app. I've got a couple of computer systems at work and it's always a pain to switch from keyboard to keyboard. So with synergy2.sourceforge.net. i don't have to use a kvm switch, i can use one mouse and keyboard for each machine. It's even OS agnostic.
So eventually one day, i'm going to hook up my machines at home and use a audio/vst teleport thingummy and rock out.

I've been a synergy user for years... It is definitely one of the best apps out there if you use multiple computers.

SynergyKM works great for macs.

For those who don't know, it basically works by allowing you to scroll off one edge of the screen onto the other. As far as I know you can have as many systems as you want, and arrange them any way you want (ie side by side or stacked on top of each other).

You can also copy and paste text between machines.
aaand... you can map different keys to different functions... Eg. If you have a mac and something of the "pc" variety you can map ctrl to the apple command key to keep your main shortcuts consistent.
Unfortunately when i map
keybstroke(alt+left)=SwitchInDirection(left)

and execute, the destination synergy client, in this case on a windows vista, dies.
Good to know this is out there. Synergy + Wormhole could be a really powerful combination for the right project.
