OK just a bit of a rant.. I guess it's related to EM in that what I'm thinking of when I rant is all the shitty youtube videos of people showing off their music/gear..
Often they'll say something like "Don't be harsh, I wasn't really trying" or "I was just mucking around, I know there's a few mistakes so don't criticise it".. etc, etc...

Why do people insist on uploading a load of shit.. are they expecting me to enjoy it?
Fair enough if you're trying to get better, and are open to suggestions/criticism.. but don't post some halfassed piece of crap and expect me to 'enjoy' it for what it is...

You'd think being music producers people would have some fucking clue about how to record a solid line signal (WITHOUT clipping it)... I don't know about everyone else but when I watch a youtube video of someone jamming live or playing their music, I'm interested in HEARING the music.. not just staring at the gear...
Enough with the shitty microphone recordings!
Basically what I'm saying is to all those bedroom tiesto wannabes... I don't care if your music sucks.. really, I like seeing low-level producers/live performers do their thing...
Just at least show that you've put some effort into it rather than just uploaded the first half-assed wank session you recorded through a cheap microphone...

personally, i always use my entire ass during wank sessions
I mentioned it in one of the forum threads, but the ones that irk me are the demos of really expensive modulars that sound horrible or they don't do very much.
In regards to the videos you are talking about, when they realize they have no talent, their video duals as a visual-audio aid for their ebay auctions of the items played in it.

that doubles for synth vids! just because someone lacks talent, and has squandered vast sums of money on something they barely know how to use, should that mean that they should refrain from posting their garbage online? why does the world owe you quality synth demo videos? life's too short. sort by rating. i personally wouldn't share something good. I'd make you buy it on vinyl, then you can share it with your friends.
See now that's what I'm thinking, except that you also need to market your good stuff, and a widely subscribed website like youtube would suffice. I'm not exactly innocent, as I have posted "demonstrations" of gear I have modded, but one of them gets alot of good questions by other modders.
I don't think cartesia is elitist, just has a hunger for good music and good sounds, not unlike myself.
