They've been the darlings of the alternative press in the US too! Good music imho, tho I haven't caught up with the new stuff yet.
Woah, just listened/watched the video linked in the article - not drone at all but that's super nice! The stuff I've heard is much more of a wash, lovely undulating textures - this is super nice too!
I really do like the emeralds.
The solo work of Mark McGuire is also pretty amazing. yeah i also bought emeralds
sound lovely great music to just be with btw
he can jog is also amazing to listen to aw shucks, thanks room
Saw Emeralds at Moogfest 2010, wasn't really impressed, perhaps because I couldn't wait for Matmos to begin? They did have a decent turnout so i was in the minority.
they sound like birchville cat motel crossed with tim blake. i like "the cycle of abuse" but the rest of the record is mediocre, imo. at least someone is keeping the synth bubble thing alive though.

Just missed them this weekend at ATP. A friend rates them and bought all their vinyl he could get his hands on from the merch stall - had a wee listen at his and liked a lot.
It's a really good record, though it's surprising to see them top a yearly review list that isn't EM specific.
it's pretty stuff, i think.
also like the oneohtrix point never disc 'returnal' from this year. similar vein. a little more concise. Signup to comment
