Electronic Music discussion: New Release: Nils Quak – This Once Silver Sky
Store Written December 05 2010 , Tags: Nils Quak, NQ, Drone, Ambient
i know i have been absent for the last one or one & a half years. nevertheless i'm still lurking here every now and then, but most of the time i'm more over at facebook. DOn't ask me why. i just am. Anyways i'M still ding music. Quite a bit in fact. This year end's for me with a nice droney ambient album called "This Once Silver Sky" that is now available for order on Ripples Recordings.

“This Once Silver Sky” combines heavily processed field recordings, loops of found music, synthesized sine waves and granular processing. Deep drones drown in thick layers of reverb, distant fragments of old flexi disc recordings oscillate between the scattered grains of guitar and piano loops. “This Once Silver Sky” dives into the territory between abstract ambient music and deeply buried emotional explorations offering a 30 minute journey. It is an ode to nothingness, the enchanting absence of meaning.

The album will be released as a highly limited CD-R edition. Digital versions will be made available once the physical versions are sold out. You can order the release at Ripples Recordings: link for 7 Euros including shipping.

If you are writing for a magazine or a blog and want a promotional copy, please contact me.

Hope you enjoy it.
There will be a couple of other nice things coming out the next months including a cassette release on hecanjog's Wolf Interval, an Album on Neo Ouija and a sweet remix of a Spectra Ciera track. I'll let you know.

I'm looking forward to hearing this release. How would you compare it to Inscription and Like Styrofoam, Bleeding?
It's more in the Like Styrofoam, Bleeding direction. No beats, deep ambient structures and a high emphasis on texture.
the sample is quite descriptive
