Electronic Music personal: Why is my FREE music on iTunes?
Store
Written March 22 2011
Hi People. Long time, no post. A friend at work asked if I had any music online. I took my down my website a couple years ago and have not done much with music for quite a while. So I googled myself to see if I could grab some mp3 links for him. I came across this though...

I do remember paying tunecore for a couple months, way back in 2007, I think. But cancelled because, duh, nobody was buying my crappy music. It's not like I'm worried about someone funding their yacht purchases off my music, but I at least would like control of when and where it is displayed, and sold or given away.
I opened iTunes and went to the store and yeah, I am on there. Now, I understand there is about 20 people in the world who might possibly buy one of my mp3s from iTunes, but if they do, it'd be nice if the money actually went to me. Who the bleep do I write to at Apple to determine who has control of the account that is putting my music on iTunes? Has this happened to anyone else?

btw, tunecore's site appears to be in maintenance mode, so I cannot write to anyone at the moment.

Ouch. Are you registered with ASCAP, or another performing rights organization? Were these tracks ever released by a label, or just self-released? If yo work with a PRO or a label, they should be able to help.
I'm not sure if this is the correct contact at Apple, but it's probably a good start:
Claims of Copyright Infringement
Apple Inc. is registered with the United States Copyright Office as a Service Provider (refer to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act 17 USC 512). Notifications of claimed copyright infringement should be submitted to Apple’s Copyright Agent at copyrightagent AT NOSPAM apple.com.

Thanks airliner. I think it's being taken care of. I think there was some sort of miscommunication between tunecore and apple. I guess it never hurts to google yourself once in a while, just to see what's happening to your music. Again, thanks for the help.

yep, all worked out. thanks.
tunecore support seemed really baffled as to why this was on itunes. i know it has not been up there for a couple years at least. then, it was back on itunes for some reason.
it's off now, so all ended well.
