not much noise after this posting.
after a day of tinkiner with networks etc. i've made zero progress. ipmidi shows up as a midi port, but no communication across my wireless network. will next look into a hub and ethernet.
have been trying to tame midi timecode sync across two computers with limited success. Finding random delays between the two computers that offsets fix, but after pressing stop and restarting the master, the offset changes value and must be adjusted for again.
sort of defeating the purpose.
it's surprising: sync is still somewhat unobtainable.
Have zeroed in on the problem. Sending midi timecode out of a macbookpro running dp6 via MOTU usb interface into a windows 7 machine via Edirol midi interface and ableton. . .
ableton is a 1/8th note delayed.
i'd just get a master midi clock and sync everything to that, old school style. i've experimented with this stuff before and there are always major latency issues.
Yeah, ethernet sync is tricky. The best results I ever had were from a remote VST host. That's not going to work in this situation, though.
I'd work with MIDI hardware if at all possible. There should be a latency compensation setting in digital performer somewhere to solve that delay.
