I scored a Soundcraft Spirit E8 mixer in great condition off craigslist for $100.
It's a serendipitous event since I sold my Yamaha MG 12/4 last year when I was moving.
This is a definite step up since the Spirit E8 has a sweepable mid-range eq and nicer faders than the Yamaha. All around a much nicer mixer.
I really miss having outboard gear.
So here's to getting my knob tweaking on.

Damn, nice find. I was looking at those when I was more into gear. They were a little out of my price range.
I got a little Mackie 402 that worked OK until I sold it. I did a loopback test through it and saw that it was killing my bass and the top of my treble, so I ditched it. Plus, I didn't really need it after I got a new interface, anyways. I was thinking I might add a TC Electronic Triple C or Finalizer or something like that if I ever get my live stuff going again. Just for some compression and EQ after the fact - it doesn't have to be perfect for live stuff anyways. Live analog mixing would definitely be cool to get into, but I don't think I really care enough. Also, I didn't get lucky enough to find a nice mixer like that for $100. Right now I've got a couple of those $20 Behringer fx pedals on the aux sends, which for the money are great. I'm a big fan of mixer feedback loops also which don't really work well in software.
I figure I'm due for some good luck with used gear since I sold some critical pieces a while back. I really want another MFB drum machine, either that or an MPC1000 but that's something I'd really have to save for. cool eyesnine, I see you're using an EMU usb interface, that must be nice. I have The 1616m which is great. The a/d conversion sounds great even when it's a very hot signal.
I haven't hooked it up to my net-book because the cardbus isn't so handy. Outboard compression would be nice though, software seems to crush it. Yeah, I use an 0404 for my editing and production, and a Tracker USB for recording.
I like the E-MUs. They don't have a lot of features, but they have outstanding converters and hardly any analog circuitry to get in the way. They are the best of the low cost, large volume mass manufactured interfaces, imo. (compared to M-Audio, Behringer, Lexicon, Alesis, etc.) I don't see my needs justifying anything pricier or more feature rich, tbh. ive always tried to do it all with hardware but it can be a pain in the arse - its nice having a big analogue mixer but theres so many limitations and stuff needs maintenance and you need 100's of cables and power supplies n stuff
