So I am about to take a huge step in my musical exploration; sharing my music with my friends and family. For me this is quite the barrier, but I think it is time to give them some insight into what type of explorations I do musically. I hope I get reactions from uncle and aunts, distant friends, close friends etc.
Anyone else finds this hard or difficult to do? Or is it just me?

yeah its hard to do but will help your music a lot. ive gotten some negative comments in the past but they still helped me see how a non noise obsessed ear might perceive my stuff. other times they may see nice things in it you didnt even notice, or have insights you didnt expect. also the experience of listening to it with them.. can be difficult. i find i get nervous and the song sounds worse to me, sometimes find myself apologizing. ive started to get over that but it took a little time. chris, thanks man, the picture was taken in australia

I find myself doing this all the time too! Especially with friends who are musicians or with friends I regard as "educated" in music. When some of them are on a visit I usually give them a preview on what I am working on, and in most cases I feel that the song is worse when I listen to it with them. Subsequently a random excuse pops out of my mouth... Signup to comment
