Electronic Music news: The OO-Ray | Astoria - OUT NOW on Audiomoves

Ted Laderas is a scientist, amateur cellist, and electroacoustic composer. He combines cello performance techniques with sound processing techniques to expand the outer realms of the cello.

The tracks in Astoria came from a year-long project to produce an improvisation a week. They document not only my growth as a cellist, but my exploration of the electroacoustic possibilities of the cello.

Marc Wiedenbaum of Disquiet wrote of his work: “As mediated by Laderas’ bank of technology, the lone cello takes on a kind of serene majesty – sustained, rich, formidable.”

Thanks for posting this, David!

I guess I've been absent from em411 for a while...hi everybody!
hey Roshi, how's tings? i remember when you started posting about your cello experience. your "cello at 31" blog was in a sense an inspiration, because i was considering starting to learn an instrument back then. eventually, i did and i wanted to make a copycat "flute at 26", but never got into it.
Hi Delete!

Things are good. Busy, but good. I can hardly believe it's been 5 years since I started learning the Cello! I've gone both further and slower than I thought I'd be, I guess I should post a "Cello at 35" blog soon...

Glad to hear that you decided to learn an instrument and I had a little to do with that. I think it's never too late (there are 70 year olds just starting on the Cello discussion board I read).
dude.

still got your tracks on my phone poppin up on shuffle occasionally. makes a nice break from my usual hyperactive rock selections.
I love the way your music is evolving Roshi. There's so much depth and layering now. I really want to hear the whole album.
Thanks, Nick and Squeal! You can hear more tracks on my Waveguide Audio page: link , where I'm selling a CD version.
very nice. love the album art too.
Thanks, CC!
