Electronic Music studio: Korg poly 800 MII Battery mod
Store Written October 25 2011
Ive recently aquired a Korg Poly 800 Mk II. I was wondering if anyone has one that they've done the Lithium battery mod to...

My question is, can you still power the unit via the "C" batteries post-battery mod? Cannot confirm or refute this via the interweb. I noticed the instructions include removing some resistors and a diode.
This would be ideal for a portable sketchpad synth (and keytar!) if the lithium and 'C' batteries can coexist. If I can't have the best of both worlds, I'd like to weigh my options before cutting up the guts.

regardless, you better believe i'll do the moog slayer and FM mod...
I also found a CR-78, a dead SCI Drumtraks, an EH Goldenthroat, an ibanez stereo chorus, guitars, basses, various foot switches and a lot of other crap. I am stoked!

It's probably OK, assuming the battery you are changing is for the internal memory. If so, it shouldn't be affected by the power supply batteries.
But that's just my uneducated guess......
Yeah... That's just it. The power supply batteries ARE the internal memory batteries...!
The text on this site seems to imply that you will maintain the memory at all times after the mod:

but it's not explicit I guess, as far as being able to use batteries in the future. I would again guess that the mod will separate the internal battery from the c cells, hence the removal of the resistors and diode. These are probably all things you've already thought through. I wish I could give you more assurance......

It's definitely possible to reroute the battery power any way you wish if it turns out that this mod leaves them unconnected, but that is another potential hassle.....
