After many years of running the Mixit site, I've decided to discontinue. The site mixit.you-mix.com will go dark when the current hosting expires, July 1, 2012.
As much as I love Mixits, the participation has dwindled drastically over the last few years, to a small skeleton crew of hard core enthusiasts.
I've spent hundreds of dollars of my own money keeping this afloat, watching over 50 Mixits take place under my watch, hearing some very interesting uses of samples from a variety of very talented people, which I am proud to have been a part of.
The scope of what is available on the internet has changed, and there are other ways to host such activities. I inherited a PHPBB setup for Mixits from JDG, when he shuttered his own hosting business. I offered to host at my own expense to keep the idea of Mixits alive and provide SOMETHING, which was better than no Mixits at all. Over the years, I've put up with many gripes from various people about it, which felt like a slap in the face when I could have easily used the money I've spent hosting this on a nice new DAW package or piece of hardware for myself, instead of providing a free place for people to use for Mixits.
The samples and submissions on the board are still available to download until July 1st, feel free to come out and grab them before they're no longer available.
Registration shouldn't be necessary to retrieve file attachments.

It's been a fun ride, but I'm ready to get off it now.

Ugh.. man. I dont blame you at all. I feel guilty for not mixiting more. The death of mixit, and I just sat there and watched. I really almost could cry
 I used to check this site once a day, but now I do it like once a month. sheesh this is sad. I feel old. Everhampster. chill bro :P It is hard when there are only a few of us doing this. I do appreciate what you've done for us.
yeah great job keeping this up as long as possible mullet. It looks like most of the old school emers are just vanished.
I think it is really impressive that you kept it going past 100. Mad respect for sacrificing for the love of music. im also be of those that abandon the project but after ages of being a artist the creativity was just not the same with all the thing that happens in life and all that also dint help my creative side and big respect to mullet that kept it alive for as long as he could
i was always impressed by your determination mulletballet. it's sad that in the end this has led to bitter feelings. even though i've only done a couple of mixits, i've always found the mixit inspiring, both the creative process in itself and the attitude towards it. you can only do small things with great love.
