Electronic Music personal: It has been a while. Here's what I've been up to.

So it has been a while since I've been here. Some of you may remember me, others not. Actually there was a pretty bizarre chain of events that led up to where I'm at now, and it started here. Bear with me.

The chain of events started after a bunch of us put together a compilation CD of cover songs made by independent artists called "Second Hand Sequence". It actually did pretty well and from there we started a small label called "Bitkins" where we released 22 albums by em411 musicians.

After a while of this we had a decent catalog going so I started a small radio stream to play a rotation of all the tracks. I mention this on reddit.com and someone suggested the idea of a reddit radio in a similar fashion.

It seemed like a good idea, so I set up an ftp site where reddit musicians could upload their tracks and we'd do a reddit night on our label stream. The response was huge. The stream was way over capacity, before the stream was supposed to have been live.

This seemed like something expanded upon so I started link . We started getting people involved in the project and it has grown to a pretty large service that is officially licensed by reddit, inc / Conde Naste.

At this point we have almost 11,000 songs in our rotation as well as multiple streams separated by genre. All of our streams are generated on the hour by voting habits. Popular songs rise, unpopular songs eventually drop from rotation.

OK, so where I am going with this: One of our pride and joy's is our electronic music stream. It does the best as far as traffic and uploads, and I'm trying to bring this all full circle. You can use this to upload your tracks and get some good feedback and station rotation / downloads (and a download link you can use here).

I've waited quite a while to make this post, mostly because I didn't want to seem like I was selling something. I've been conflicted though because it seems like something that can help musicians here out.

That being said, it is worth noting that none of us make a dime. It's all done on a volunteer basis.. All profits go back into the site. We are aiming to have a positive impact on independent music as a whole, and since our true birth was at this site, we'd like to do anything we can to help out musicians here.
