--> My friends, the Dream Tigers link have the opening spot for Dr. Octagon on Friday. I've been looking forward to the show since I love both acts, but looks like I'll be participating instead!

I got a call from one of the DT's who invited me to sit in with them. Two members of their regular 4-piece won't make it, so I'm filling in a long with another friend of theirs. Mostly they just need the energy that 4 laptop'ers brings (versus 2) as they have the set covered, but they'd like me to bring some smapples to throw in the mix.

I'm thinking some funny voice yells, some cymbals and some one-hit sound FX. The DT's do a crunk acapella tracks over booty beats mixed with glitch and big 80s synth sections. Maybe some classic synth dives would be fun. Any suggestions for good smapples?

Weeeee! I'm excited!

Anyone else have stories of opening for someone you love/respect/admire?

nashville has had a lot of great shows lately and done me proud. blackalicious for example, sold out their venue and came back in a few months! Unknown Hinson came back too, the towns got a really positive vibe.

That's great to hear. I've only seen Blackalicious as part of the Quannum collective tour, and the Gab stole the show hands down! Hell yeah that was good.

I just had the official practice with Dream Tigers, and I'm happy to report that the ladies will be taking off their shirts. Oh yes.

You're so right. It was very much Kool Keith. I was kinda disappointed by how much it was "YO! YO! YO! DALLAS! YO! YO!" as opposed to the more quirky personal Dr. Octagon stuff. Even blue flowers seemed kinda gangsta'd up.

Overall though, the show was excellent! Ours went off without a hitch and the other supporting acts were fun as hell.

good stuff.
