--> Okay, I'm back from my sister's wedding. And for the YouTube heads, here's a YouTubed Version of the video that premiered at Hexasion . I'm not entranced with the quality of the YouTube conversion - I'll put up a link to a higher quality version soon.

Update: I just uploaded a much better looking version to my website:

link (Right click to save - about 50 megs)

Update 2: added a new version that doesn't have the hyphen in it.

Yeah, definitely if you are more experimental, they would love to hear from you: link - their email is on their website.

Excellent work. I really dig the visuals and sound combined. What did you guys put this together with, software-wise?

Thanks!

We did the compositing and effecting in After Effects. The second part with the hypnotic water is basically four layers of the same video all delayed relative to each other to produce a video "flange" effect, though the four layers have different opacities and color balances. A lot of it was just playing around and layering footage, which was very fun. We would render out the clips in 12 second segments (which mapped to four bars).

The editing and time mapping of the clips was done in Premiere. After working with this program for three months, I hate it. It is so unintuitive and doing the transitions/cutting of the reversed loops was a real pain in the ass. I may get a nice apple tower and final cut pro if I do more of this.

I'd like to play with more 3D/2D animation stuff, too. My brother in law uses Blender (professionally, for a couple of commercials), and gets awesome results with it.

my thoughts upon seeing this:

neat water, lol is that a m.u.s.c.l.e figurine?, that water looks like camo gear, what the hell is that thing in the water?, haha lookit that little rocket ship, what the hell is that stuff?

nice. i'm sure that'd be the perfect thing for a live show.

Oh yeah, the brain. We found it in this little canal near my old college. I'm guessing it was a filter of some sort, but I'm not sure...we still have no idea what it is.

where'd you go to college?

I went to Reed. If you know anything about the place, you'll know it makes sense that I went there.

hahaha i knew it!

i went to lewis and clark for a year back there.
Then we're enemies!

Oh wait, I have to smoke some pot and go run the nuclear reactor.

What were we talking about?

i went to reed once during my year at lewis and clark. i had though I was a drug-addled weirdo. boy was i mistaken.

very nice!!!!! i love the music too.

Mlbot has some Reed jokes, I'm sure.

I'm sure the thought of Reed students running the nuclear reactor scared a lot of people in the neighborhood. You have to take an insane year long training course to run it though, and that pretty much is your life while you're there.

Dont bother calling the cops, we're a private residence.
