--> Continuing the 'shoegazer' theme thats been running this week, as promised, here is one track from the video of a gig I did with a band I used to be in, back in 1990.

The sound quality is a bit quiet. Its because the video I used wasn't the greatest quality [its seen better days like when the world was powered by steam] and I couldnt get some video editing software installed to clean it up. I might have another go at it at a later date, using another video. [apparently my flatmate has one thats much better]

Also, here's a local newspaper cutting of a review of the gig which I had to edit in pshop so it was all visible on the page [the guy used columns all over the place due to the adverts]. Its a shame I dont have an exact date for the gig but it was about may 1990, if memory serves me right. I'll have a dig around in my archives ot see if I can find out.

I havent seen the other guys about 1996/7 but the singer/rhythm guitarist went on to form a band called 'Travis Cut' that seem to have had limited success.

Hope you enjoy it. Its brought back a lot of memories for me anyhow.

Also, Ive got a interview/training day tomorrow for a new job that could see me pretty much travelling all over the country for the next few months.

Vocalists always seem to have a higher opinion of their instrumental playing than others. It's the "I can play *and* sing" thing. Ugh.

The annoying thing is that everyone indulges them in this illusion.

I bet Tanner hates that about his 'singing' band mate as well ;)

that was rad, zanf. i kind of miss playing in a band. not really, though.

same same.

I miss the comeraderie and the energy that bounces around the room but not the ego shit & the politics.

i used to be in some great bands that were never gonna even try to get successful, just maybe learn some tunes real well and play for six people-that was the best. with one band we had a gig in a dorm room where it was all friends, loud as fuck and bouncing off the walls. that was fucking great.

I miss playing in Jazz combos. Standards are so fun to play - one year we played most of Jobim.

Tanner was the singer for our industrial band, not me.
Be sure to ask him all about that when you guys meet.

PS, Zanf, what is Autolysis anyways? ;)

hell yes.
i was in a jazz combo that did only wayne shorter. that was great.
and then another where the most "in" thing we played was "on the corner" era miles. i miss all those guys. even the tenor player who we called "the jazz nazi"

it where scientists talk bollocks and then swell up and explode, innit. ;)

Tanner and I spoke and he is too busy with work & wifey family to meet up but he said he's here a couple of times a year so he'll have to meet me next time!

One of the most fun songs we ever played in this crappy band I was in was "Gigantic" by the Pixies.

Tanner's single, and he's just in England on vacation so he... oh OHHHHHH THAT WIFE AND WORK, yeah, he's always busy. Busy guy. Nothing personal, I'm sure. I wouldn't give it another thought. Totally. ;)

Mliar.

Wow - random image bringing back memories.

Im still doing the job that I had a training session for, the day after posting this.

I got an email from the drummer not long after posting this video on youtoob and he now lives in New Zealand. He posts on a communal artists blog so Ill have to dig the link out.
