--> Yes, the wait is over! Clark's new album "Body Riddle" has finally dropped and is available for purchase! Despite the silly name change, (Chris) Clark has continued to greatly impress me throughout his Warp career. And while I have not heard this album yet, the samples I've heard from it, the taste I got from his EP "Throttle Furniture", and the limited edition free tracks avaliable to download on his website (throttleclark.com), have left a very good taste in my mouth.

This album, just like the last one, is an evolution in the Chris Clark sound. In fact, it's very different and I think it will take some time to absorb and grow on me. It seems very fresh and original, with still keeping to certain IDM conventions.

Who else will be checking this one out?

OMG. i just downloaded the flac version from bleep. this is an amazing record and is one of the more inspired things i've heard. it's beautiful. really really great. sonically interesting, surprising and it sounds exactly the opposite of contrived.

yes there are some more acoustic sounding things in there but it's still reaks of electronics. i like it a lot. not what i expected from him.

I love this album. I've only listened to it a couple times, but so far am really impressed with it. One aspect that I really appreciate is his stern focus on quality melodic structures, often putting the beatworks (which are nicely done) secondary, so that the percussion supports the rhythms without dominating them.

However, agree with the complaints about overall volume. Someone take away his compressors.

blame the mastering engineer.. unless he slaps an L2 or something like it at the end of all his mixes. i think it's pretty dynamic compared to some other things i've downloaded from bleep.

also, the melodies are awesome and seem to shift or sway sometimes.. lot's of little synth articulations as well to make things sound live or less static. it's really so thoughtfully done.. overlapping little synth parts makinga bigger melody. wonderful counterpoint stuff going on.

this album is way too loud.
period.

teh other thread says he does his own mastering.

the headroom is out there..

Seen that 'review' by one of the Warp staff in the newsletter (or go to watmm and see it there). They're really pushing this LP hard with the hype, which must go to show how tough trying to market this stuff is at the moment.
