--> Deer - Live at STFU Helsinki

This is my liveset from STFU Helsinki, all performed and mostly improvised using the monome 40h controller (with a slightly altered MLR Max/MSP patch) piped into 3 Ableton Live busses for additional fx (not used them as much as I wanted to though). MLR spits out 4 loops at a time, I trigger them manually with the monome buttons and can do things like only loop part of a loop, reverse it, cut the loop up into patterns and move between sets of samples. You really do need experience with this setup and at some points (especially near the beginning) its obvious where I fucked up a beatmatch etc, but the crowd was nice enough to me and some brave souls even started dancing - definitely a learning experience with lots of hints where to go and how to refine/simplify things. includes a reworking of samples of one of yghartsyrt/nq's tracks.

wait a minute- i thought all the recordings were lost in 'The Great Helsinki Minidisc Disaster of 2006'
but yours survived....suspicious.....maybe you sabotaged the others?
good stuff anyway- nice to hear it again

hah, I bussed my main output back to a new track and recorded that, having survived the "Great Weimar Minidisc Disaster" already I wanted to be on the safe side!

How clever, and this sounds even nicer than i could recal! Btw that fuckup doesn't really standout.

love it!

top stuff man. awesome grooves

groove is the word, this is really nice stuff.

This is really great! Love the grooves...funky but spare.

Excellent stuff, nicely restraint grooves, the 'off' beatmatching adds even more groovyness to it.
Love it!

great to hear this again.

brings back memories.

This is lovely & atmospheric...ditto on the grooves

ps - oh come on, you call that a fuck up?

(still listening...I'm just at the projectionist's nightmare)

fucking ace martin.

no more words needed
