i wish this was at 174 bpm

lol

it has low blood pressure

Really love the synth textures on this -- muy rico. When's the album released? :D

sounds like new skinny puppy, but good. OOOHHHHHHHHHHH PWN SP

it really does sound awesome... so far... i am writing this as i listen. im a sucker for the dark sad proto-post-neo-pre-industrial.
wheres the er1? and gated verb? i just hear drums that sound like tyhey were sampled into an sk1, not before being run through your anus tho.
fer real. fer real.
i dont have much to say about it... mix/production/sound wise... quite well done.

do i get some more free ml music now?

It has a definite Phil Collins-esque vibe... must be the mlbot part. :D

I like it! You guys havent done anything in a year?

I was kind of hoping this was going to be a recording of when your wife booed and/or double middle fingered you at that show.

"this is would be perfect if it was made 30years ago. but by today's standards its garbage."

Perhaps you can elaborate in a way that would be useful to mlbot, tantan, and rian?

As for me: The melodic part does sound reminiscent of late eighties Skinny Puppy. Some of the early percussion sounds are detailed and interesting. There's a swishing plastic bag sound that I really like. I haven't heard that sound presented as percussion before. The distorted drums really bug me though. Depending on distortion for texture is just too easy. And electronic music makers have been doing it for way too long now. The ones in this song sound a hell of a lot like those on the last track of Speedy J's 1997 album "Public Energy Number One."

But this is a pleasant piece and I enjoyed listening to it.

PAWEL almost made a complete sentence, I hope that he's okay.

The SP comments are very satisfying to me! I hadn't thought of that, but we were chasing after that heavy, glum tone that you find in recent Low and Mogwai records.

Hm, perhaps we can weed out the distorted drums? I take the point regarding their clichedness--honestly I'd hoped that maybe they'd come back around again (what's old is new etc.). Nicknotis, awesome comments--the Speedy J ref is more likely to inspire us to keep something rather than change it out, however!

ed, I can definitely hear my wife flipping me off in this!

Is Rian full time with wroom now? Will ml soldier on?

I really liked this...good balance of industrial and ethereal.

Then again, I make the worst music on em411...so maybe I should shut up.
He's a 2-timing slut, has been for a few years and yet, manages to continue to satisfy both of his bands. ml will soldier on.

this is really awesome, classic slow industrial rockish

nice production work (except that fucking snare! needs to be tighter and deeper.), nice melodic content, nice vibe throughout

all i want is more overall fullness/warmness

also, pawel is trying to create hype, except he's about 10 years late. aphex did everything he's done already. it's kinda like he's tracing!

yah, mr grace is right, the snare needs to be changed, maybe a big verb on it. or lower pitched. but other than, SWERT.

there is nothing wrong with distortion on ANYTHING. it belongs on anything you want it to.

nice base!

i like this a lot.

Alright, distort away! I think Rock people have found some interesting ways to record it. Micing the amp that's doing the distortion can really serve to put the sound in a space. Having a second mic farther away from the amp, or behind the amp, can allow for even greater control in placement. And if done right, the sound can actually seem more energetic than it did before. Have you considered trying something like that? After a little tooling around I bet you'd be really pleased with the results. Maybe try using one of Royer's ribbon mics. I'm sure you know someone who has one.

And yes, I love Speedy J too. Public Energy Number One is one of my favorite albums of all time. Can you believe it's ten years old now?
