--> I'm lazy and haven't thought of a title for this one yet. And it's definitely a work in progress. I've been working on it for quite a while, expanding and trimming it off and on, and I finally feel like it actually came together as a "song," rather than just an excercise in texture and space.

The drums are way too static at the moment, and there's a little bit of unintentional clipping on that echoing piano thing towars the end. Oops. I'll fix that.

Other than that....what's good? What's bad? Does it work for you?

love that pic .. have it on my wall.

Like this...very dreamy.

I do like the second section...but maybe you could do something a little more texturally different (such as change ride cymbal sounds or use tasteful crashes instead) to set this section off.

I think a section that was even more sparse and beautiful would be sweet...then back to the first melody.

God, my taste in arranging is so cliche.

hehe @ roshi.

i think it's lovely. i too would like to hear more of a change later...but i am a sucker for things dropping and exciting me. a bit shallow really, especially when it maintains such a nice feel throughout. i can't help but want a little more dark and light at some point. if it was an experiment in texture and space, it worked

it's a hard one - having listened to it again, i am half moved to say, finish it to your satisfaction and then it's all good. a nice piece man.

The progression needs to be tweeked just a little pinch (bassline) .. I'd explain it easier if I was jamming with you

Great btw - honestly one of my favs on here in awhile.. ride that Twin Peaks vibe.. I like the first half more ..

Wow! This seems like a different direction for you, much darker and more organic.

I really like it, its slow to change, but this doesnt seem like the type of song that should be very dynamic in melodic progressions. Very dream-state sounding.. Great work!

excellent track, enjoyed it immensely.

cool, thanks for the feedback guys. glad you enjoyed it...i've been struggling with this one off and on for probably a couple years at this point....haha.

djugel - i know, it's tough to point out musical details using only text. it can be frustrating sometimes. I'll give it a listen and see if anything in the bass stands out to me though.

Yeah, I really like this, but I think the drums might need more dynamics. Maybe have sections where the rhythm changes ever so slightly and empesis is placed on different beats. As it stands it just goes from the first drum loop into the second with no breaks or rolls or parts giving way to others.

When the kick and snare do finally fall away I reckon it's a lot stronger. And very beautiful. I could listen to variations on the ending all day.
Recent blogs: Hi...
oh, now this is very pretty. nice organic... the plinky synth is a bit too cute and plinky for me... sounds like early múm melodies (could be worse!)... the reversed stuff works pretty well, too, the breakdown is quite nice, too, some more emptiness / pauses of the superb drums in some parts could add a bit more dynamics but all is quite pretty in this track... nicenicenice!

Airliner .. it's just one of those things where .. sometimes I want bass to repeat ..sometimes not as much. No new chords or anything.. just messing with the order.

really like this ..

great direction this is

like the hat drums,

the simple beauty/.

All of your songs are wealthy with melody Airliner, this one included. The hi hats sound a wee bit muddy to me. Maybe they're best that way though. Have you considered recording a live drummer? Doing so would give you a whole bunch of extra material to cut up, loop, filter, or whatever. It might nicely supplement the existing drums tracks.

This is a nice theme to the day in Seattle. It's wet but the air is forest fresh. Maybe I need to go to Discovery park now.

just listening to this on my monitors...even nicer!

nicknotis - the drums in this are actually cut from an old recording of me playing drums. there's not a lot to work with from that session though, because my drum skills are rudimentary at best

djugel - i think i get what you mean. a little bit of embellishment and variation now and then...

japes - yeah, i need to do some serious detail work on the drum part before this is actually finished. since there's really no fills or anything now, just loop loop loop loop loop.

reminds me of my favoite Yo La Tengo moments.
