wesen - teh dance formula
Release StoreTags: dance, quixit, formula
-->
This is my track for the last quixit (2 hours), and i basically just applied the formula i have been "discovering" in my last few explorations. It basically is:
1) four on the floor is good.
2) Short decay hihats are cool.
3) Weird reaktor beat changing all the time in the background makes for interesting listen.
4) Delay on drums on breakdown is good.
5) Start with percussive bass sound, add portamento and distortion to taste, but don't loose that percussive boom start.
6) bassline: build up a 2 or 4 bar pattern, fill with some "important notes", mostly played by hand, and then click click click those 16th notes and velocity and length (length of notes is very very important) until it feels funky. Then add some short 32th "rolls"
7) Do basically the same for the melody (which came a bit short here, no time left . I start to get a "mental" feel for the step sequencer, like I have some melody in my head and I see how it will look on the step seq. lol
8) Spend the second hour of the quixit on the "arrangement", basically adding removing elements on 8bar limits, but doing so in a way that is different every time (different break, different bla, etc...)
9) sprinkle with unchanged sounds to make the other quixiters lol at you
EDIT:
I forgot
10) some pad sound (here there is none, no time) for breakdowns is cool too
11) some rythmc harmonic thing keeping the track together
12) remove the harmonic (pad and rythmic) to get full dry groove, boom tschick oink

is this a goat screaming at the start?
neato. the bass is really cool. and so is the abstrakt melody.
the percussion is a little too much on the left channel, as the melody is too much on the right one. make the whole track a little closer panning wise or pan more unnecessary parts
but got me groovfing along.

I am totally grooving along with this track.
Knowing that it was made in two hours adds huge bonus points too.
Well done!
