warning: wank fest. i was playing with some new linux toys while waiting for me mum at the univ. i was getting j-chot's 808 hits together, and then went astray with crasyshadow's blips for the hydra project (i'll put up the mids for them (the synth lead/bass) on my hydra wiki when i get home, still @ univ), and then i went really astray and took two kicks and a snare from an old 70's break and made this. prep time ~20-30 minutes, then recorded live in one take.

i programmed that break, i just ripped two kicks and a snare is all but ya... linux. it's a funny thing. info is scattered everywhere. i recommend linux-sound.org (deprecated), jackaudio.org (you need jack). mmm, ur hardware should work perfect. but u need a pre-empted kernel, or at least a kernel with a realtime-lsm module (also depcrated). planet ccrma has out-of-the-box kernel, etc, and i'd recommend that (i use ubuntu). here, lemme find u the link... link

no don't "take the good parts out, expand it and make a real song." just make it have more sections.. and transitions.. and then record one take (w/ lots of mistakes) and leave it that way.
