I've been working on this track for the last few days, and got it into a stable state sequence wise (I don't think I'll change much on the arrangement). It's inspired by analord and stuff, but straighter somehow. I will work on note velocities (it's all one velocity at the moment), and sounds and tweaking cutoff and res and stuff, add some sound fx, but basically it's all there.
I fear it may be a bit too crowded, that some lines bite each other? But I know the patterns so much by heart that I can't really hear that anymore.
I welcome every critical comment rip this track to shreds
I can already picture myself enjoying this one on a warm and happy summer night!

oh this is really cool, and i like that it's dancy feeling . i really wish the beat would get really distorted and fat when the overdrived synth line comes in.

great song! the patterns weave in and out smoothly. This barely qualifies for criticism, but i think the track wanders a bit near the end. I think you've said all you need to by the first 4 minutes. Once you get your velocities set, call it finished and move on to the next masterpiece.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah I think I'll work a bit on the end again. hardvoltnine, which distorted synth line do you mean? The heavy bass right at the end (the last bassline)? Or the goa-thingey at 2:37?

I like the skitters and fast-repeats that act like fills between the parts-->classy. Good movement in the sound.
I agree that it wanders a bit at the end. The beginning is so tight. The last 40 seconds or so are pretty great, but you drop the beat, bring something in, drop the beat, like 2 or 3 times. I wish that kind of thing only happened once, because I think you diminish the power of that move the more you do it.

Great retro sounding start to it, and the song really takes off towards the end, the growling bassline and more full on drums work well. Maybe introduce these earlier and cut the length of the track down. good stuff.

enjoyed this, pretty potential, just some of the snare/perc sounds were a bit offputting I noticed near the beginning - a bit raw sounding somehow, or harsh.
EDIT: I think it's just some hits with delay on them that are stuck out by themselves in the intro which don't sound right actually. And the snare break at the end of a 8-16 (don't remember) sequence that you have - sounds a bit 'triggered'. The snappy clap sound is cool though. There are some snare sounds that sound triggered. that's what was bothering me now I realise.
I was wondering whether the kick sound was too, but not as certain about that, perhaps it sounds a bit loud. Meh, not sure about that one...perhaps the kick could be 'warmer'. Also, minor detail I guess, but the small melodies near the middle put me off (the acidy (can't think of the word) - question and answer) cause they don't really bring anything to the track, it does border slightly on the wrong side of cheddar for me. I felt they could just as well not be there.
EDIT: around that area, it does get a bit busy too, I think you're right.
You could throw in some different colours so the decending bassline (which is nice actually) gives more interest later on, maybe send it a little bit jazzier. Some of the break down parts feel a bit uneccessary in the middle, but I wasn't certain of that either...
THE GOOD STUFF
The bassline is sweet and the boppy feel with the triplets & the kicks on the off-beat, retro in a really enjoyable way. A density of elements that feels just right generally too (I've noticed that with some of your other releases here too when I've been around and caught them). Oh and generally, clear sound. and nice drum patterns too. Some really nice analord-inspired unexpected clubby break moments :-).
ha - just read your intro at the top, I was thinking of analord when I started listening to it.

Jetsom, thanks for the detailed comments, you describe exactly the shortcomings I feel about the intro and some of the stuff. Could you give me minute:seconds of the acidy melodic pattern and of the "forced" snarebreaks? I can't really guess which one you're talking about
Also astroid suggested I make all the sounds a bit grittier, I will try to render the bass and drums to tape and mess with them.

Hi, I should really emphasise more that I'm being nit-picky 'first thing i hear that I'd want to change' in a hopefully being helpful way. I enjoyed this!
Just did it on my wristwatch so a bit rough..
triggered sounding snarebreak - 37" seconds in
acid melodic pattern - (first appears) 2' 05" --> there's another name for that, can't think of it. square wavey synth-line?
also the acidy octave-jumping melody - 1'12'' --> just realised that this isn't that necessary too, it's just emphasising notes that already emphasised a lot in the bassline and the melody is a bit weaker than it should be reeeeally :-)

Wicked, thanks. I see what you mean by the triggered snare break, but I really love that one hahaha By acid melodic pattern I gues s you mean the thing that sounds a bit like an electric guitar? I love that one too But yeah the beginning really begins to bother me, I'll shorten the whole beginning thing and give the disco bassline at the end more space (I love that one particularly because I can play it on electric bass, which is ++++ for live gigs).
Thanks for the comments Jetsom!
