--> don't know if this is any good or not.
don't know if it's done.

opinions are greeted with a freindly grit of the teeth

it has a beat, but the beat sux

lyrics:

la changes at night
in the damp tan light
i am the town

highway takes you from your destination
past cardboard houses with no mailbox
and black burning mountains of tires
look! the midnight city is on fire

the princes in their hedgemaze
of concrete and cocaine
benzedrine and propane
they all know where we're going

highway dinosaurs
slip the ground toward the shore
back to the sea, indeed

up above the atmosphere is rumbling
satellites are falling down like water
ten generals apply for sainthood
look! the midnight city is on fire

like all la film buffs
i see the city blown up
climate change and comets
fires earthquake riot

my city, my midnight city will survive

phantom voices singing on the sidewalk
rounding up apostles for the jury
noah's in the street doing a raindance
look! the midnight city is on fire

upper, lower classes,
under overpasses
running with the masses
running from the fascists

the midnight city
the midnight city
look! the midnight city is on fire

my city
my midnight city
my midnight city will survive

I love it too, man. Really pretty melody, and the singing is perfect. what the hell are you talking about off-key??? That's just arrogance! I think you could consider this done, or you could develop the orchestration a little more, so the song texture changes a little as it develops... Maybe introduce some sound effects. Or develop a little percussion... I like the idea of celestes too (I always do!)

But it's haunting and lovely, man. Great work.

great song!

did i just hear?
"upper-lower classes over underpasses"

lol. great line.

i have a hatred of acoustic guitars though. but thats my problem.
I imagine this would sound nice with Tabla

Sounds like you're holding back a little sometimes with your voice early on. Great voice though, reminds me a bit of Ben Folds and he's my fave. Nice lyrics too. Made me want to visit LA. Enjoyed it.

very very good

i really enjoyed it

i like the intimate vocals and would not revwer them more

reminded me of early beck and fredo

I really like this as well. It's a lovely song. The singing (the doubled parts in particular) reminds me of earlier Ween. You are talent incarnate.

I like it.

cowbell.

also, you are certainly developing a style of arranging... the close vocals are very much part of this style, same with the very close bells. I say just keep going with it. And this song is done! (But I would love to hear some kind of shaker like instrument at some point...)
yeah, close is the word.
like it was recorded in a closet (which actually isnt a bad deal most of the time).

MORE CLOSET FOLK

daring & rad, thanks! i like the double tracked vocals in the chorus. especially the closeharmony stuff.. and the non-rhyming lyrics.
it has a beat? but the beat sucks? BEAT ISN'T EVEN THERE?, doesn't get much sucker than that

thanks all!

i can't wait to hear what energygiant does. there's certainly more room for some organic arrangements.

at times it reminds me of that "mmm mmm mmm mmm" song that blind lemon pledge or whoever it was did, which Weird Al spoofed into some sort of song about tabloid news.

Plz to add nothing. Unless its a really short section where the guitar gets treated the way you treat all your mixit smapples, running them though the G2 modular. But only a short section.

lol
wunce, thur wuz a kieed who
got into un acsidint n cuddnt go ta school

w00t w00t ! awesome work . . . the lyrics were right on and it sounded in key for the most part. I'd like to hear more of your lyrical ventures...something I wish I'd sit down and concentrate on are lyrics lyrics lyrics !

wow scott you really got me floored with this one. The arrangement is absolutly a bruzenak style all its own.
Subtle. beautiful. perfect.
