hey fam. i'm working on a song that i started from the quixit tonite. i wanted to keep working on it (which is rare). same samples so far, but i'm gonna try to keep just the quixit samples int he finished version (which shouldn't be hard - already full with just three smaplz)
ANYWHOZ, i was looking for some criticism i could construct with. particularly on the bassline, which i usually just distort if i don't feel as tho it's sitting right.
what else? oh - and i'm always open to collaboration, and if all goes well i'll be uploading the individual session tracks (in flac format) to archive.org. my shiz is cc-by-at | |

i remember when u posted that song a long time ago, and u said that the person in the pic wasn't u.. but i thought it was, and it wasn't, but it actually was.
ya know?
this song sounds like it should be on a SNES game or something, like on 'final fight' or something, on one of those stages where you are fighting on top of a train or an airplane or something.

DUDE. OMF BAD DUDES!!! that is one of the best games ever. My cousin and I got all the way to the end where I think you have to save Ronald Reagan from terrorists in a helicoptor or something.
Anyway, I really like this track. It's really driving. I feel like maybe the main melody could benefit from some variations or another melodic instrument instroduced. But, maybe that's not the tracks intention. Repetitive isn't always a bad thing. Regarding the bass though, i haven't listened on my monitors/headphones...but it feels too much in the mid range maybe? I think maybe boost the lows a little bit with some eq? Or if that muddies up the mix maybe just drop the high gain to hopefully fit better.
I haven't had my cofeee yet. im' like a zombie right now...

hahaha that's awesome. i grew up on bad dudes. they didn't have beards. i even had the two lap arcade-style joysticks good times. i think they made that game for the arcade??? gonna have to look it up (and download it)
skab in irc was saying more bass too. like boost the bass, i think in the bassline as opposed to the kick, at 55hz. or maybe he meant both the kick and the bassline. and then he said something about side-chaining the kick into the bass, which is new but i've heard ppl talking about itlately. is that like what daft punk does to make those beats that cancel out the vox?
anywhoz, the melodies are pretty repeptiive, they weren't changed from the quixit much (i just kept chopping) but - after i fix the tone a bit, i wanna add a real melody, theme, and uhh... more samples or whatever. thanks for all the fun comments u ppl
