it starts out sounding a bit like lionel ritchie. that's not an insult by the way.
I like the chord changes. very moody, especially in the parts when it 'fills out' more.
the flute-y sound is just right - it could have easily been overdone, but it's not.
That's great when the drums start distorting, gives it more of an organic flavour.
I don't love the voice samples, personally.
It sounds like you actually know a thing or two about music and songwriting.
