here's one of the tracks i submitted to vaggue terrain 07. you can check the whole submission by following this link i'm interested to know what you think since these tracks are much simpler than my previous stuff. the melody is taken from a 1960 rebetiko song by a great musician of the genre. the instruments played are bouzouki and baglamas. here's some info on rebetiko: link Comments
I like the hip hop vibe...but then again I love hip hop, so thats a plus.
Nice, simple precusion switch ups in key spots, great sample. Awsome mix down. Like the bass work as well. Kinda wanna bust a freestyle to this one. I love a good bouzouki player. And your implementation of those samples and screaming noises is very nice.
I want to hear an AtlusZero rap track to this, as long as he's any good at rapping  opa!
Nice intro! I liked the change in sample length. Though it comes and goes a bit quick? This part could be longer & developed more. Would watch out - some of the bouzouki (the second bouzouki tune sample) sounds a bit tooo obviously 'triggered' sounding to me and the drums could do with a tidy up round there maybe. Bassline is my main bug bear I think, melody needs a spot of work. Perhaps a lower, more sustained bassline would work better for me. This would improve listenability 21.8% :-) Some great greek music samples. I was thinking that that main melodic one near the end (that reminds me of 'kalinka') - with the filter sweep - could do with more interplay with the drums and bass, it's a bit rigid atm. I think you could squeeze the samples a bit more rather than bringing them in and then letting them go and going onto the next thing (a classic thing I do too), which would also make the track more cohesive. Just listening to that party tune 3 tunes in now :-) So you finished with the theatre then? Hope it all went well. PS - my (disasterous) mixit is in rembetiko timing this month, no bouzouki though Bouzouki! sweet... another hiphop lover here, agree that the percussion changeups are good... I like the bass line - I think hiphop tracks benefit from more sparse bass parts. but what you might want to do is double it with some sub bass.
