Jetsom#001

--> I've been lurking for a while now like a ghost with no music on here, and this weird feeling finally caught up with me today so here's some music (and hi!).

It's an excerpt -full thing 8.5mins (called 'We have to speak in whispers if we want to be heard', relating to the relentless chattering of the mind -*groan* I'll spare you the details :-)). I got a friend in to help out with some vocals (there are two voices). I made it in 2004, and it's probably the most finished work I have.

Criticise away (though it's unlikely I'll act on it for this track specifically. I don't intend to open it up again), thanks!

i love it and you know it! vastly prefer the first 5 minutes for the amazing vocal manipulations - the second part is very cool musicwise, but it kinda ebbs away in terms of new content.. either way, glad you decided to post it up!

I'm just amazed I managed to get through the procedure. Though, uh-oh, player keeps cutting out at this end...

filarion - Hey, thanks! I think it's widely acknowledged (by most that have heard it) that the second part is a bit thrown together and I knew it at the time. I even had carl craig's rework of Hot Lizard's 'The theme' sat at the end of part 1 as a stopgap for a while while I was working on it. Amazing how even when you push your limits, it disapointingly does & doesn't sound like that's what's happened. I can't blame running out of time really either.

ps =Oh man, that 'soloing' at the end, what was I thinking? I meant to edit that away *cringes*. OK, I might switch this excerpt for the full piece in a day or so.

love it instantly. the space is really cool. though the really huge one had a little bit too mmuch low end.
but that gibberish talk is nuts. and so is this sine-ish ppitchbend synth giving it some west coast hiphop flavour.
it could be longer (but as you said, it's just a part of an 8,5 minute track) but i'd likee to hear the rest.
well done. you shopuld post more of stuff like this.

that's a keeper for me. but maybe you can hand me th complete version ;)

Provocative vocal trips and cuts.
The beautiful simplicity of the melody is captivating.
Lovin the litle elements and details.
Nice one.

I love it too. And I also want to hear the whole song.

I can't hear any problems.

Thanks!

yoghurt: That big verby bit, you're right, -the low end. Wondered why it didn't sound quite right. Obvious now. I love to find stuff like that out, it helps.
AtlusZero: I obsesssed a bit too much over details on this & lost the big picture, so it's nice that you noticed! I was quite happy with how the vocal editing turned out. Could have developed it a lot more though..
Nicknotis: You're being too nice. Perhaps you'll spot a few more in the full version if you're around to hear it!

Full version: tried to make the switch just now with the URLs, seemingly to no avail. I'll try again in a bit.

Oh, there it is

Just put the excerpt back in place for now. Cheers!
very cool. I really like the ending.

ah! love itttt

hardvoltnine: What, that keyboard solo?! Felt right at the time :-). I like it when the panning movement starts on the verby rhythmic part at the end. Not that special/big a deal, but I like it. Cheers for having a listen too jdg.

love this when i first heard it 1.5 years ago
love it now

Hi Astoid! Is it really 1.5 years? I remember you had me do one of those personality vetting tests at that time too and it reckoned I was a Star Wars fan & similar to Mary mother of Jesus and Neil Diamond (lies!). I don't know how long I've been on em411, 2-3 years proabably.

fuck man. want to hear this.......but it keeps cuttnig out. got a link jetsom??? pretty please.........................

exquisite, chunky; loads of interesting detail - same here for the link...
