tantan - foodvilla (DRAFT)
Release
Author: tantan on July 17 2007
-->
All of the sounds are sourced from recordings grabbed while filming a short film with a friend of mine--mostly car stuff, engines and radios and signals and horns--then choked to death in Live and piled on high in Pro Tools. I don't particularly like it, but it's dirty and spontaneous and fun to make. It's a willful mess, so let me know where I'm laying it on too thick, too thin, if it's too raw, too long, too monotone, etc. I know that it's compressed to hell (sorry JDG), but this ugly digi thing is sort of appealing to me at the moment (again, to make, not to suffer listening through).

Hahaha, well, you should already know what bugs the heck outta me: the beat that goes bikkabikkabikkabikkabikkabikkabikkabikkabikka
The rest is cool, like a cross between Crazy About You and Your Father's Arms
Voices are much quieter than the main synth part, so turn them ups maybe?
Can you puts some (more) distotion+verb on that intro synthy sample? I think a hairy tail would be cool.
Ugli Digi = cool, make it even more ugli digi!
Love all the weird sounds, lots of cool sound design, nice synth bass and electro synth bleeping.
But you gotta either program a rhythm thats more interesting than every-16th-note-run-thru-16th-note-delay... or drop everything but the clanks, imo.

kewl, so if the loops themselves just happen to be all syncopated and shit (as they are in this case) should I just slow them down? Or drop them altogether? I think I know the clank you're talking about, I should let that one go. The turn signals gotta stay though--they don't actually have any delay on them.
I thought about dropping the opening synth altogether actually, just because it sort of does its tour of duty later in the song and that way the voices can have their moment in the sun at the start.
I love hairy tail.

turn signals? I missed them, or didn't get them...
My turn signals go click click ... click click... click click... click click
but there's a lto fo tiny sounds in here that go click click CLICK click click CLICK click click
maybe every third oner is accented, but i get the feeling theres a sound on every 16th note, and that part gets monotonous.
So I say: make the turn signals more turn signally. click click (off) click click (off)
