2x alesis quadraverb gt effects
akai mb76 mix bay
akai me15f midi dynamics controller
yamaha mep4 midi event processor
roland pm16 audio-midi trigger
-
no sequence programmed
nothing played or controlled by me (except some compressor adjustments)
audio-midi feedback
midi feedback
-
i made so many stupid mistakes when trying to get this going (cables not connected, volumes turned down etc) but when it got going i loved it doing its crazy thing

rockin' the HR16s, that's rad!!

in soviet russia, midi plays you!

you can hear people in the back cos someone left a mic on...

theyre a weird bunch those stfuers
they actually seemed to enjoy this

what the hell am i listening to

the music of machines

wow ... if you lived in chicago you'd be in a band with my friends .. they love this shit..

really?
cool
rofl. nuts, dude.

so can you explain a bit more how the signal flow went?

what's the original trigger that made the midi explode?

the original trigger was a mic going into the roland pm16 audio-midi trigger -but i couldve just pressed a drum pad to start it
that sent a midi note to the drum machines which played a sound through the effects+compressors
the sound went into the mb76 mixbay and was split so it went to the pa and back to the midi trigger (to cause more notes)
the midi notes were delayed and rearranged (velocity became note number and note number became velocity (and there was some amount added)) by the mep4 midi event processor
so each midi note spawned more delayed midi notes and each sound also triggered more notes
the bits where it stopped were when i had to switch off and on again the mep4 because it said rx buffer full- then i had to hit the mic again to set it off again
also the sounds were sent into the footswitch sockets on the quadraverbs to cause program changes- which were then sent to the drum machines
i missed off the start of the recording because it wasnt working for ages (cables not plugged in/ levels on 0 and other stupid mistakes)
my stfu weimar set was also like this but a kawai k4r instead of the drum machines- ive got it recorded but not uploaded anywhere yet

respectaculous :D
(i do midi-audio feedback things in reaktor sometimes but at the 'extremes' you quickly reach a kind of homogenous digital sound, i bet with hardware it's less predictable);

maybe its less predictable with hardware because of all the seperate unsynced processors- and anything involving lots of wires is a bit unpredictable
the thing is with this stuff is that im trying to make as regular and predictable as i can (while still covering a wide range of sounds, notes, effects)
there are no random number generators involved

Got a link to the file? I don't hear/see anything?

yeah- link
not amazingly spectacular but a hell of a lot of fun to 'play' live

that were some fascinating permutations
