--> Howdy,
This is a song from my new collaboration with my friend Travis called Brass Tacks. We are just building a body of work right now, but I thought I'd share this early version with all my friends here at em411! This features Travis' gargantuan mandolin-playing ability pretty prominantly. I sequenced mixed and provide the grooves and some keys here. The mix is pre-pre, so yeah.

This is a bit of a departure from me since Travis' bluesy, blue-grassy nature has rubbed off a bit on me. If you're interested in blues, blue grass, folk, rock, or just good music check out his band's myspace:

film scores

Thanks guys. Astroid, people have been telling us this sound like a film score and we take that as a compliment, so thnks! We just both love emotive music and dynamics.

super cool. loved it!

Super cool indeed. It sounds like all of the raw materials for a good mix are there, a little refinement should do the trick.

Mini-update: We're going to re-record the mandolin and singing on a way better setup than mine, which should help bring the sound quality and presence up dramatically. Yeah!

yes i like the depth of dirty recording sounds with very synthiszed ones. great stuff!
tops! great musicianship. *waits for more refined mix*...........thanks!

oh god...i think im in love.
dont clean the recording too well...space is good!!!!

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the compliments.

mm.. i agree that the mix could be sharper and slightly richer, dynamically, but i TOTALLY welcome the very 'roomy' and budget sounding recording of the mandolin.

(liked this a lot btw)

Can I just say that I really appreciate all of your feedback, I probably would have gone and recorded this as tightly-miced as I could and then discovered I liked the room noise after, so your guys' ears are invaluable to me. Thanks!

this is great
I'd be very curious too to hear the final thing
the music is already really good
