--> Hey dudes and dudettes!

I am working on my new liveset for the machinedrum (and maybe a nord to do the acid). I kind of grokked the idea of loop based techno, so I have been doing a few grooving patterns on the MD. Then to get the hang of building a mix, I recorded every single element into ableton and started arranging shit. So this is a preview of the new set, with no tweaking on the MD, and a lot of background noise due to layering like 12 loops at the same time.

I'm trying to get a feel for the arrangement, and maybe for the sound. It's not quite there, but I think it's pretty nice. It's mostly 1 bar loops, no oneshots (which I'd do with tweaking), very minimal volume fadeins and fadeouts (have to work on that, it's great). On the MD I will be bale to do tweaks with resampling the MD as well (like reverse kicks and stuff).

I'd like to have feedback on the flow (how would it work on a dancefloor), sound quality as well (I think the loops at the end have a bit of a mush in the lower end, but I did this in noisy environments).

I like it really much though, so enjoy

Sounds good...definitely on the minimal tip

When you bring in that bass sound - don't break it down like that - you're losing momentum. I would say try to build it around the bass or a more constant 4/4 beat, with the occassional breakdown. Something for the dancer to hang on to.

Anyway, just my 2 cents...

terrific early morning track

yeah roshi, I think I know where you're getting at. I'll try to build more stuff around a "working" loop, and bring in multiple elements on top of it instead of changing the main skeletton every 16 bars. Definitely gonna work on fading in and out things as well, that works really well.

The sound is great, you got very good minimal vibe there, but you are changing it ALL the fecking time. Stop that! It should go on lots longer with LOTS less changes. If it sounds too boring, soft pads or drones or swooshes now and then can help keep it fresh.

I'm thinking about how I am going to do those one shot / flow breaking sounds. I think I'll definitely take the nord micromod with me and do some slow algorithmic stuff/textures going on in the bckground, cause the stuff on the drum machine is pretty much loop based, and I'm using all the 16 tracks already.

I agree with the previous comments. And I really like where this is going. It's going to be a wicked club set by the time you're done.

I really like the panning on the high-piched bell thang.
I love tha bass.
Yeah, it changes too much. Good ideas, just draw them out maybe?
