--> hi, hello.

my first completed tune for a while. been getting settled in birmingham and taken a bit of time off making studio tracks - to concentrate on my liveset...blah.

bit of an old electronica vibe when it gets going, i guess...and a somewhat odd structure but I am pretty pleased with it on the whole.

would love to know your thoughts.

yooooo!

sammy.

Wow, great solid work.

Love the intro...beats sound great as well.

Don't really have much critical to say at this point...although it might be nice to have a counter melody in the second section to propel things forward.

Solid for sure Sam! Interesting decision to keep all of the early drums in the same spot in the stereo field. It makes the second batch of drums sound even better. Roshi's suggestion is an excellent one. Go for that counter melody.

It's great to hear a new sAMsKi song.

thanks and like the suggestion fellas. when you say the second section, i assume you mean towards the end after the odd drum breakdown part? if so, i agree for sure...that bit bugs me at the moment...it's as if you have gone on a journey only to find you are back at a more boring place than where you thought you might end up...

by the way, the intro involved me (gradually) holding notes down with both hands and my face (!), which i then rolled from left to right - what a virtuoso face pianist I am - ahaha...

yep - it sounds like your face at work

love the tune for having portamento in it - i loooooove portamento

the power style chords - were too normal for me.... needed some really warm - high fuzz overdrive on the sound and maybe a little filter of some kind + acoustic guitar riff cleanliness to counter/contrast it - would be my suggestion

as for the arrangement and the breakdown with the beats - they are great - great bell

hey room -- again i agree. i think i 'put this out there' to confirm my suspicions about it really...i aint down with the guitar 100% either. i am glad you and 'the others' seem to like the bits that i like, which means all i have to do is sort the bits I (and no-one else) likes and I'll have a decent tune on my hands (!?)...hehe.

that's why i love em411!!!

awesome wobbly synth melo.

i love the oldschool feel. i was a bit irritated by the beats being mostly panned to the left. i'd drop out of that melody someplace or introduce a countermelody like some others already said.

that breakdown is totally nuts but for my feeling a tad too long. great tune. thanks for sharing.

haha - as it happens yghartsyrt, the breakdown being too long would've been my final self criticism on this tune...so between the posts so far, i think you've about covered all the negative points i would've picked. --- although i'll check the panning too!

cheers for your ears, sam.

love the breakdown!
hehe - i am not just trying to agree with everyone all the time but i have thought about the breakdown overnight (sad, i know) and i think the fact it is a bit lonnnnng maybe takes it out of the 'safety zone' a little, which is a good thing for me to get out of...!! hmmmm...*strokes chin*

I like the breakdown as it is. And yes, I was considering the part after the breakdown to be the second part. Listening to it again, I wouldn't mind hearing more of the breakdown drums pop up in the second part, especially that bell sound. That noise sounds rad in the mix as it totally occupies its own space.

word! ... although right now, this tune is history. the system harddrive in my DAW just fucked up...i hope i can get this tune back, as i use a different harddrive for my work files and i backup to an external drive fairly often (not often enough for this tune to be on there)...but now i need to rebuild my DAW first - what a pain in the cunt

Effortlessness!

Why aren't you coming to Athens? Your live set will be missed. Sniff.

hey jetsom. thanks.

um, i will miss it/you (lot) *sniff*..........but there are a couple of issues I guess. 1. I don't do shorthaul flights. 2. It's not gonna happen by train (i have holidayed in greece by train before) 3. My liveset doesn't travel well.

hmmmmm...silly me?

Fair enough. Why don't you do shorthaul flights?

planet init...
