--> Here's what rudoulf sounds like.

First part of Bach's 1st suite sarabande...sorry it's so short, it took about twenty takes to get it to sound this decent...I'm a bad recordist.

Also, a tanalizing lil bit of the prelude: link

YUP. me2. i think its everyone, really.
MY SOLUTION: setup perminant mic setup so u can just go in, hit record and dont have to think.. becomes habit.
this is not a cheep/easy solution tho. jerker

also, roshi, nice celo

Yes, I'm thinking permanent mic (with recording gnome attached) is the way to go...

It was really hard recording my parts for a friend's backing track - if it was bad in the least, I had to start again.

We ended up punching in and out a couple sections...it feels a little demoralizing when you have to punch in and out...

a nice portable recorder, and a some mics with a preamp/mixer would be great.

i get sick of ripping my interface out of the rack and bringing in my laptop..

but i leave my mics setup .. then just plugin the interface and laptop..
maybe i should just do some LONG CABLE RUNS

dude, sounds fantastic. Rudolph has a gorgeous deep voice and I sense your heart in the wonderful playing. I'm really amazed, man. Just keep working hard. I totally understand your feeling of hating little moments here and there, it's always the same with me. Some folks can be their own harshest critics! But you have to be happy with these sounds you are making!

for portable recorder I HIGHLY recommend the Edirol R-4 Pro 80 gig hard drive recorder that I bought about 4 months ago. You can buy a travel case, and although it's a bit bulky, it's pretty light, runs on 8 aa batteries (very quickly sapping their power though) or plugs into a wall and has phantom power for four mic inputs. Quality sounds very good too. The menu is a little confusing, but once you figure it out it's pretty easy to get your stuff done.

Thanks for that perspective, Fredo...it's easy to get discouraged when recording instruments "naked" and comparing your recordings, to well, people you shouldn't be comparing yourself (casals, duPre, etc).

I guess this is part of the reason why most of my recordings have been effected to some point.

But I'm going to try and record more uneffected nude recordings. <- (opportunity for mlbot quip there)

Yes, vulberability is more powerful than you can imagine. If you display it honestly, and with the lovely tone you have here, it's bound to be very effective and powerful, man.
vulnerability!

coming right along! awesome man

ps, yes more audio nudity please. love it

hey.. would it be possible to swipe some samples of your playing?
sounds like your progressing nicely btw!

Sure, if you want these, go ahead.

I was going to put together a sample set of phrases, when I have time (biochem test this friday...busy til then)

Keep it up Roshi. It's going to be great to hear how your Cello playing and composing continue to develop.

i'll wait for some delicious sonic phrases from you!
